Meet Katie
Katie believes in creating a space for honest, sometimes uncomfortable but needed conversations. She believes that each person has their own story to tell how and when they are ready. When that time comes, she will be here with a listening ear, an empathetic mind, and a safe space. She believes in meeting you where you are at while empowering you to explore who you are, who you want to be and how to get there. Counseling is very much a journey that she is ready to help guide.
Although counseling often deals with serious topics, she believes in infusing realness, authenticity, honesty, thought-provoking questions, emotion, some humor and the occasional metaphor to help make counseling a mixture of relatable and challenging. She seeks to find ways to make goal setting realistic and accomplishable while using that momentum to make larger goals more easily attainable. She enjoys watching each person come into their own with clarity, empowerment, encouragement, understanding and belief that they, themselves, are the key to change and the present they want to live in. She is a big supporter of boundaries, communication, self-care, and exploring what fills up your cup.
She has experience with groups, families, and individuals. She previously worked as a Registered Behavior Technician providing services in a pediatric Autism clinic. She also has experience with anxiety, relationships, transitions, parenting, behavioral therapy, depression and recognizing & addressing barriers.
What is one piece of advice that you would
give someone considering counseling?
“Going to counseling doesn't mean that you are weak. In fact, being vulnerable is incredibly brave.
Also, it’s okay to try more than one counselor until you find the right fit. The connection between counselor and client is important, and you want to make sure you feel comfortable and can be yourself. I promise it's not offensive if you ask to try a different counselor.”
